Cason's Birthday/ Story

Cason Joseph Wittenwyler was born on May 17, 2017 at Methodist Hospital at 9:21 a.m. He was 8lbs 8oz and 19.5 inches long.

Cason's birth story...
I had a scheduled c-section that my doctor (Dr. Erin Lehman) so kindly came in on her day off to do it for me. I was actually shocked that my water had not broken earlier, like it had with Nolan and Brody. I was a bit anxious to get the surgery over and done with, and to make sure we had a healthy baby boy! Cason came out crying and then peeing! He had a great set of lungs on him and Jimmy and I were excited to show him to Nolan and Brody. Nolan and Brody LOVED Cason when they met him and brought him a dog. It was so sweet to see how excited they both were! Nolan is a bit older, so he was able to hold him and really understand everything. Brody was nervous to hold him, but would touch him and sit by him! My parents, Jimmy's parents, and my sister came up to see Cason. He looked a lot like Brody did when he was little.

Cason spent the day with us and then went up to the NICU at 4a.m. the next day to help monitor his breathing respirations. His white blood cell count was slightly elevated at 39,000- normal for a newborn is around 30,000. He also had an elevated crp test which was 1.7. Normal is below 1. Last, he did have a temperature of 100, but I was told that was due to the heat lamp he was under. Needless to say, Jimmy and I have been to the NICU with the other 2 boys for the same reason, so we knew he would be in good hands and just needed time to practice breathing.

While Cason was in the NICU, he did great. He ate very well-at least 30-40ml each time and was able to go home after the mandatory 48 hours. He went home the same day I did! The boys were so excited to see him and it was a pretty easy transition to a family of 5!
