Weekend Update

This weekend was an extremely busy, but fun one. Here is an overview of our weekend:

Friday afternoon: Playing outside and taking a wagon ride around the cul-de-sac. Although it seemed nice, it was very windy. Nolan insisted wearing his hat.

Friday night: Girls night! Yessica, Laura, and I went out to dinner and then to Orange Leaf. It was a great time and we all laughed so hard we cried. Those the best kinds of nights!

Saturday: I got my haircut in the morning and then went to my friend Amber's baby shower. It's so fun to watch my friends preparing for their little bundles of joy. After that, Christina, Nolan, and I headed to a play-date with Christina's friend Jenni and her little boy Jack and baby girl Kate. Nolan had such a great time! At first he was a little shy, but once he saw the cute little park across the street, he was ready to play! He loved playing with Jack and his monster trucks. They boys went down slides, ran around, and looked at the "digger" across from the park. It was so much fun and we can't wait to play with them again!

Hi Jack!

So cute!

Nolan felt very proud of himself today because he could do everything by himself!

"Hello!" He loved the talking pipes.

Swing time!

"Thanks for letting me play Jack!"

2 Years and 1 Month

While spring is here (although it still feels like winter...) I am looking forward to having the summer off and spending time outside with Nolan. It seems like the months keep going by quicker and quicker and pretty soon he won't be little anymore. I've decided that I will continue to do monthly updates about him until he is 3. I love being able to look back and see all of his little milestones.

At 25 months Nolan...

  • Weight and Length-somewhere around 26lbs and 36 inches
  • Wears size 18-24 month clothes and a few 2T
  • Wears size 6w shoe and size 3 diapers...still.
  • Continues to be a picky eater but has now eaten pizza and hot dogs for us! (Most people don't want their kids to eat a lot of that and we are excited if he WILL eat that! Also, he is eating all beef and all turkey hot dogs with no nitrates) He also now drinks juice!
  •  Is very good at communicating and can pretty much say anything. He says cute little phrases and loves to say please, thank you, and sorry.
  • Loves the stars and moon and enjoys looking for them at night.
  • Enjoys trains, cars, and stuffed animals.
  • Enjoys being outside and likes to ride on his trike.
  • Reads all the time and will often finish many of the sentences we read.
  • Is really starting to become interested in cooking and loves to help us make things. We have made hamburgers, pizza, cookie bars, salad, soup, and french toast with him.
  • Is at the stage of "Nolan do it. Nolan big boy!" It's cute, but at the same time takes a little longer whatever it is he wants to do...=)
  • Loves Sesame Street and Peppa Pig
  • LOVES TO CLEAN
  • Hates being dirty and will ask to have his hands washed. He also will walk around pointing out all the "messes" in the house.
  • Loves to "hide" in closets or places around the house and yell "Hide!"
  • Is for sure left handed
  • Will sometime ask for me to take his picture!
  • Continues to bring joy to our lives each day!

Pizza Pizza

Nolan for the first time ate pizza....not just the crust, but actual pizza! This is a success as we are trying to get him to eat anything that is "real" food. Tonight he helped make the pizza and then he ate some!

Here is our little chef:

Easter Weekend Fun

This weekend was a fun, but busy one. Friday night Jimmy and I met up with some high school and college friends at Old Chicago in Ankeny. It was a good time-whenever we are together, it is just like old times. We ate pizza, drank, and watched the NCAA basketball games. I was bummed Kansas lost because I had them in the championship game...oh well! Unfortunately I didn't  bring my camera so I don't have any pictures. =(

On Saturday morning Jimmy and I took Nolan to the West Des Moines Easter Egg Hunt presented by the West Des Moines Fire-station and DMACC West. We thought Nolan would love to see the firetrucks and the hunt was inside for 1-2 year olds.....which worked out perfect because it was raining.  Nolan did love the firetrucks and kept walking around saying "More firetrucks!" However, he did not care that much to put any candy or eggs in his basket. When we tried to help him, he would empty his basket and say "EMPTY!" Maybe next year we will have more success.

Walking to the firetrucks.

Nolan was very spoiled this Easter as he had 3 different Easter baskets! (Grandma/Grandpa, Nani and Poppi, and the Easter bunny at our house. He received a coloring book, crayons, books, Thomas trains, a flashlight, multiple cars, a toy bus, Elmo and Count figurines, animal crackers, a Thomas the Train toothbrush and toothpaste, eggs filled with candy, and an animal lufa. He enjoyed spending Easter with both sides of family. He ate half of a cinnamon roll that Grandma made and loved finding Easter eggs at the Morano's.

"Elmo's World!" Nolan loves to sing that part of the song when he sees Elmo.

Squeezables!

Looking at his Easter basket

Yum!

Ready for Easter lunch!

Nolan enjoyed naming the colors of the eggs as he picked them up.
